VINCENT KONG OAM
PRESIDENT

This year marks a very special year for the Australian Chinese Buddhist Society's Ming Yue Lay Temple as we celebrate our 40th anniversary.

From a small fibro building to one of the largest Chinese Buddhist temples in the Southern Hemisphere, the Ming Yue Lay Temple has come a long way since its origins.

As successors with utmost gratitude, I would like to commemorate the pioneers and predecessors for their hard work, ongoing support, and contributions to help bring this temple to life!

Being re-elected as President for a 3rd consecutive term is a big honour.

I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to our Chairman James Chan, the members of the board of directors, executive committee members, staff and members of the Ming Yue Lay Temple.

Along our journey, we continue to do things no one else has done before and played a significant role in expanding the temple, building a stronger community and promoting Buddhism.

The most memorable achievement for our temple was the opening of the Ksitigarbha Buddha Hall (Columbarium) three years ago. The Ksitigarbha Buddha Hall took more than 10 years to complete from planning to opening and I recall the contributions of all our members of the Ming Yue Lay Temple, a memory that I treasure with appreciation.

The opening ceremony was such a success thanks to all the Venerable Masters and those who came from all over Australia and abroad, the staff, the volunteers and everyone involved in making this one of our most successful events ever.

As we celebrate the 40th anniversary, thank you all for your continued support as we continue to shape the future together.

I wish everyone a safe and healthy journey ahead.

Vincent Kong OAM
